Complaints

How to complain about a bookmaker

Where to go when something goes wrong — the bookmaker, your state regulator, or ACMA for unlicensed operators.

The bookmaker first

Most issues — account access, withdrawal delays, dispute over a bet — are resolved faster directly with the bookmaker. Regulated Australian bookmakers are required to have a complaints process; look for it in their app or website.

Your state or territory regulator

If the bookmaker doesn't resolve your complaint, contact the regulator that issued their licence. The Northern Territory Racing Commission covers most online bookmakers (ntrc.nt.gov.au). Victorian bookmakers fall under VGCCC (vgccc.vic.gov.au); NSW under Liquor & Gaming NSW; Western Australia under Racing and Wagering WA.

ACMA — illegal or unlicensed operators

If you believe a site is operating without an Australian licence, report it to the Australian Communications and Media Authority at acma.gov.au. ACMA maintains the public register of licensed interactive wagering services.

Problem gambling support

If gambling is causing harm, free confidential help is available 24/7. Call the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au. BetStop is the national self-exclusion register — betStop.net.au.
