Dead heats
Stake split by dead heaters

Australasian racing: the stake is divided by the number of dead-heating selections and paid at full odds. TAB-dividend bets use the National Tote dividend. Position Payout pays the higher place multiplier in full.

Face value divided by dead heaters

Racing fixed-odds returns are the bet's face value divided by the number of runners in the dead heat. Most sports draws with no draw option settle the same way ($100 @ 1.90 returns $95).

Face value split by dead heaters

Where no draw option is offered, bets are paid at face value (stake included) divided by the number of dead heaters, never below the stake (except cashed out bets). Racing and sports rules match.

Payout split by dead heaters

If a tie isn't a betting option, fixed-odds payouts are divided by the number of dead heaters and multiplied by the placings they fill; multis likewise. Tote win pools split equally between backed dead heaters.

Late scratchings
Deductions may apply to payout

Deductions may apply to payouts on Final Field bets placed before the scratching and market reframe; for Racing Victoria horse races, Racing Victoria declares the deductions. Futures stakes on non-starters are lost unless stated otherwise.

Deductions apply; scratched stake refunded

Final-field bets: deductions from a schedule, based on the scratched runner's odds at scratching, apply to winning fixed-odds bets placed earlier; bets on the scratched runner are refunded. Futures: no deductions; all-in after nominations.

Stake refunded; deductions on others

Stakes on scratched runners are refunded. Winning fixed-odds bets take deductions: Sportsbet's before the on-course market opens (usually 25 minutes pre-race), then the stewards'. Futures bets struck before final fields are all-in.

Refund after acceptances; deductions may apply

Fixed odds: scratched-runner stakes are refunded if struck after final acceptances, otherwise forfeited (All In). Bets struck after acceptances, before prices adjust, may face price-table deductions at TAB's discretion. Tote win/place bets are refunded.

Maximum payout
$100,000 metro thoroughbred win limit

Racing win limits (return less stake), per player, bet type and race: $100,000 Win and $300,000 Quadrella/Big6 for Australian metro thoroughbreds, lower elsewhere (down to $10,000 Win). Novelty (not Politics): $10,000 per customer per day.

Same game multi with a void leg
Whole SGM void

A void leg voids the whole standalone same game or same race multi. If the SGM/SRM is part of a larger multi, the whole SGM/SRM counts as one leg: it is excluded and the multi recalculated.

Whole SGM void

A void leg voids the whole standalone same game or same race multi. If the SGM/SRM is part of a larger multi, the whole SGM/SRM counts as one leg: it is excluded and the multi recalculated.

Whole SGM cancelled, stake refunded

The whole same game multi is cancelled and the stake refunded. A single same race multi with a scratched selection is also voided and refunded. In an SGM+, only the affected SGM leg is voided.

Whole Same Event Multi refunded

If any Same Event Multi leg is refunded, the multi is void and refunded; within a standard multi, its legs drop out. Rugby first/next try-scorer bets stand even if the player doesn't take the field.

Abandoned or postponed matches
Void if postponed over 48 hours

Abandoned: match-result bets are void unless an official result is declared (soccer: void regardless); decided markets stand. Postponed: void unless rescheduled within 48 hours (soccer: same day). Individual sport rules vary.

48-hour rule (AFL); varies by sport

Varies by sport (soccer: 3 days). AFL: bets stand if a postponed match is rescheduled within 48 hours, else void. Abandoned, not completed within 48 hours: AFL official result, else only decided bets stand.

Refund if postponed over 72 hours

Bets stand if a match is postponed before starting by 72 hours or less, otherwise refunded (basketball, baseball, ice hockey, American football: refunded if postponed 24 hours or more). Abandoned soccer, no official result: undecided bets void, decided stand.

Obvious price errors
May void obvious errors

Racing: errors notified before the event void bets, stakes refunded. Otherwise bets stand, unless the error is obvious or odds are wrong (Sportsbet may void). Obvious live-racing errors may be settled at the correct price.

May void or pay correct payout

If a Manifest Error is identified, e.g. a price materially above those historically offered, TAB may at any time void and refund the bet, pay the correct payout, or void affected multi legs.
